While Israel is Supporting an Al Qaeda Affiliate, Iran is Falsely Villified Relentlessly and Accused of Supporting “Terrorism”

The latest horrific firebombing atrocity committed by illegal Israeli colonizing settlers in Palestinian territory which is occupied by Israel in violation of international law,  is but one of hundreds for which no one was ever held accountable, and most importantly though, to this day the international community via UN and via the International Criminal Court have abysmally failed in acting promptly and decisively to once for all confront the Israeli power structure and to impose draconian economic sanctions on Israel so that there can be the beginning of a semblance of hope for justice for the Palestinians who have suffered since 1948, when they were violently disposed of their lands.

Albert Einstein on April 10, 1948 wrote a letter to Shepard Rifkin, the Executive Director of the American Friends of the Fighters for the Freedom of Israel declaring the following :

Dear Sir :

When a real and final catastrophe should befall us in Palestine, the first responsible for it would be the British and the second responsible for it the Terrorist organizations built up from our ranks.

I am not willing to see anybody associated with those misled and criminal people.

The following paragraphs from the May of 2005 Monthly Review reveal the extend to which Albert Einstein was presciently aware of how the concept of a nationalization of the Judaic religion and its forceful implantation into the land of the Palestinians was bereft of historical, ethical, and legal legitimacy and how it would lead to catastrophic consequences of the kind humanity is witnessing now, 67 years after the British imperialists facilitated said implantation.

” At the end of the Second World War Einstein was also drawn to the crisis of European Jewry following the Nazi genocide. Self-identified as a secular Jew, at least since his first encounters with anti-Semitism as a child, he was an intimate observer and intermittent victim of this ultra-nationalist disease and reacted to it as he did to other hate crimes. As early as 1921, when he made his first trip to the United States to raise funds for the establishment of Jewish settlements in Palestine, he sought solutions to the impending catastrophe confronting Europe’s Jewish community. He resisted growing legal and extra-legal restrictions on Jewish life in Central and Eastern Europe, supported (with little success) Jewish migration to the Americas, and advocated for the creation of what he and others called a “Jewish national home” in Palestine. As such he was identified with Zionism, a label that does not precisely fit but that he did not actively avoid. Nonetheless, he separated himself from Zionist jingoists and bigots including Vladimir Jabotinsky and Menachem Begin, and often from mainstream Zionists like Chaim Weizmann and David Ben Gurion. In 1930, Einstein wrote, “Oppressive nationalism must be conquered…I can see a future for Palestine only on the basis of peaceful cooperation between the two peoples who are at home in the country…come together they must in spite of all.” He went on to support a binational Jewish and Palestinian state both before and after the war.

In 1946, with hundreds of thousands of European Jews still “displaced” and with the victorious allies unwilling to absorb even a portion of the refugee population, Einstein appeared before an Anglo-American Committee of Inquiry on Palestine, calling for a “Jewish homeland.” The Zionist establishment seemed to have intentionally misread this as a call for Jewish sovereignty, so with help from his friend Rabbi Stephen Wise, he clarified his position. Jews, he said, should be able to migrate freely within the limits of the economic absorptive possibilities of Palestine, which in turn should have a government that made sure there was no “‘Majorisation’ of one group by the other.” Resisting Wise’s demands for a more forceful statement, Einstein replied that a “rigid demand for a Jewish State will have only undesirable results for us.” Radical journalist I. F. Stone praised him for rising above “ethnic limitations.” (Einstein later became a charter subscriber to I. F. Stone’s Weekly.)  “

                                             ****************************

Things have gotten worse since then.

While Israel tags falsely and opportunistically the Palestinian and the Iranian governments as “terrorists” , and their acolyte U.S. Congressional corrupt and dishonest ditto heads who simply repeat this characterization, and while Israel metes out savage punishments on protesting Palestinians and relentlessly incites to the U.S. to wage war on Iran on false premises , it is in effect at this time supporting members of an affiliate of Al Qaeda, namely the Al Nousra group, active in the Golan Heights, a territory of Syria which Israel invaded and occupied during its 1967 war of aggression.

This fact is reported by, inter alia, the Wall Street Journal, as well as by “Electronic Intifada“.   This blog’s director is Ali Abunimah, a highly respected and vetted Palestinian-American journalist who has been widely invited to speak at a variety of progressive churches and progressive Jewish organizations.

As the scholars, diplomats, journalists, intelligence analysts who have been the frequent attendees of the prestigious Center of National Interest Foundation organized conferences have articulately stated, it is utterly against our best interests and against the interests of our national security to ignore the political corruption which has allowed politicians to be bribed to the point that they have bought into a status quo of zero reassessment of our “special” relationship with Israel based on some fictitious notion of some so-called “exceptionalism” as regards to the misleading conflict generating power structure of said state.   The Israel-can-do-no-wrong notion is unreal, and dangerous to all genuinely concerned and that includes the innocent, decent, inhabitants of Israel.

This self-destructive lack of an initiative for the reassessment and reform of out foreign policy as regards Israel is partially rooted in the undue power of the Israel lobbies, particularly AIPAC, but as well of the undue power of the lucrative industrial military complex which funds neocon and neoliberal politicians who in turn are too eager to legislative deflect badly needed funds for social programs, national infrastructure, education, law enforcement, and humanitarian aid, to the contractors of the war industry.

As President Carter declared yesterday on the Thom Hardman show :   “The United States is no longer a democracy because of “unlimited political bribery” that’s created “a complete subversion of our political system as a payoff to major contributors ” .  He further declared that : “It violates the essence of what made America a great country in its political system” … “Now it’s just an oligarchy, with unlimited political bribery being the essence of getting the nominations for president or to elect the president. And the same thing applies to governors and U.S. senators and Congress members.”  President Carter was referring to Supreme Court cases such as the 2010 Citizens United decision.

While the  U.S. government talks the talk of freedom and democracy, it does not walk the walk for these fundamental principles.

To wit, one example would be the strong support the Nixon/Kissinger government provided to one of the most murderous dictatorships in the history of Latin American, namely that of  Chilean military dictator Pinochet, as well as President Ronald Reagan’s support for the most vicious and murderous dictatorships of Central America.

Similarly the U.S. government is the enabler of the now Apartheid regime of Israel and bizarrely has been stuck to a false premise by repeating the Kafkaesque notion that “Israel has a right to defend itself” while it was carrying out one of its worst massacres in history, last summer in the blockages Gaza sector of Palestine.

In reactionary response to Palestine’s acceptance by the UN’s UNESCO agency, the U.S. decided bizarrely to punish this educational, scientific, and cultural organization by ending its funding contribution to said agency.

In response to protests by Palestinians as a result of the torching of two Palestinian homes by Israeli terrorists, right-wing members of PM Netanyahu’s coalition demanded that the illegal settlement building continue unabated and Education  Minister  Naftali Bennett stated that “The answer to Palestinian terror is settlement, not cowardice“, going on to blame Israel’s defense minister, Moshe Yaalon, for carrying out court orders to knock down the illegal constructions.

To add insult to injury one of the allies of Naftali Bennet, said so-called “Education” Minister, suggested that Israeli combat bulldozers (of the armored kind used to carry out the mass destruction of the homes owned by Palestinians) be used to  knock down Israel’s Supreme Court , presumably to punish decent, ethical, law-abiding, judges for doing what they must do, if they have a sense of self-respect.

Examples of such sordid calumniation is found, inter alia, in the unbelievably offensive statements made by the chief Rabbi of Efrat in the illegally occupied West Bank, Shlomo Riskin, who had the temerity to declare Obama a scourge on the Holly Land, telling his people that “The president of the United States is lashing out at Israel just like Haman lashed out at the Jews” .  The Book of Esther refers to a reference in the Hebrew Bible where Haman, a high official of the ancient kingdom of Persia, sought to annihilate the Jews.

Another example is that of U.S. born former Israeli ambassador Michael Oren in Washington, DC who slurred President Obama, suggesting in a series of articles in Foreign Policy that the Obama’s “abandonment” by his mother’s “two Muslim husbands” created in him a desire for  “acceptance by their co-religionists” that now has influence his foreign policy.  The facts,  matter none to this incompetent, obviously racist right-wing ideologue. Such rubbish is coming from an ambassador of a state which is funded at the rate of about  $ 3.5 billion per year, which amount to about $ 10 million per day of our taxpayer’s money.

Yet one last example of many more of a plethora of insults by well-known public officials which denote a clear sign of a sociopathic behavior and decadent values of epidemic proportions among Obama calumniators is that of the GOP candidate and former Arkansas governor,  as well as an ordained church minister, who said President Obama’s nuclear deal with Iran “will take the Israelis and march them to the door of the ovens “.

In addition to Israel getting away with the worst and most egregious human rights violations, violations of international laws, and crimes against humanity, the United States power structure, due to its internal contradictions which are highly inflamed by mostly Republican right-wing ideological fanaticism coupled to utter corruption, arrogance, and ignorance, now our President has become the object of the most derisive, grotesque, dishonest, vilification by the revisionist Zionist AIPAC lobby and by its politically corrupted neocons and neoliberal supporters, at a time when our President must be given the due credit he does deserve for having ended torture in the U.S. occupied Cuban territory concentration camp of Guantanamo, and for having initiated the winding down of war on Afghanistan and Iraq which has been for more than a decade a colossally catastrophic tragic failure which has wasted thousands of American lives and hundred thousands of Iraqi and Afghani lives, not to mention the trillions of dollars, and were wars initiated on false premises.

No more needs to be said or written.

The gospel of Iran vilification and Israel glorification is no longer operable and reflects a state of what can be called the a deliberate effort to engage in the sterilization of potential creative reforms to end our perpetual state of war, so we can start rebuilding America and the world in the crisis – affected areas can also refocus its energies on redressing the legitimate grievances and longing of their peoples so that at least the hope that the misery which violence has brought to them may be coming to an end.

If this collective insanity by selfish and dishonest hate and war mongers  in our Congress in other arenas for our governance is not ended by the total marginalizations of those ideologues of the fanning of the flames of fear, hate, hysteria and coupled to 24/7 disinformative cultural programation coupled in turn and by the reigning in via a global march against run amok capitalism which has engendered  a consumerism which is damaging to our physical, mental, and spiritual health and is ruining our planet’s natural resources, then there will no peace and no reconstruction, and humanity is doomed.

Kudos, Fred, for another critically important article on the never-ending injustices and tragedies in Israel & Palestine. However, we do have collective power: We can call our Representatives and Senators at the White House Comment Line 202-456-1111 & tell them if they want our votes, they have to call upon and support the UN to hold Israel responsible for their crimes against the Palestinians. Join the BDS movement: http://www.bdsmovement.net/ If we don’t hold them accountable, there is no accountability! If we all persist in our calls and letters, with Fred leading the way, peace & justice is possible!
