On May 26, 2016 The Washington Post published an article written by David Nakamura,  which had the supra Argentum Post title in quotation marks.

Both, the Washington Post and David Nakamura, deserve some credit for this excellent article which extols another element of President Obama initiatives which add value to his legacy,  as he is the first President to so eloquently address the horrific and disproportionate nuclear bombing of innocent civilians in Hiroshima and Nagasaki by the United States, something which resulted in the initial death of more than 200 thousand men, women, and children, the vast majority of which had nothing to do with the Pearl Harbour attack.

This number does not include the radiation sickness deaths, and disfiguration of countless thousands which to this day still suffer.

What is conspicuously missing in said article is what has been censored for too long by the corporatized mainstream media in consorts with corrupted politicians and the armaments industry so-called industrial military complex and that is the following.

General Eisenhower strongly condemned Truman’s decision to twice attack Japan with nuclear weapons.     He did so on the documented basis that attack was redundant and inhumane since Japan had offered to surrender prior to said nuclear bombings of Nagasaki and Hiroshima.

Furthermore Japan did not surrender due to the U.S. nuclear bombing but due to the 1945 surrender of Berlin to the USSR.

The Enola Gay Exhibit by the Smithsonian Institution which has been viewed by about 4 million Americans, was also shamelessly censored by the U.S. Air Force and by the American Legion so as to not include these two vital bits of information.

Pulitzer Price winning journalist and historian, Kai Bird, inter alia, documented these facts in “American Prometheus”.   Recently he was interviewed on this subject by the highly prestigious and independent program Democracy Now which is broadcast on radio, satellite television, and is available online.

The American people to this day remains woefully and unacceptably unaware of this reality as a result of the suppression by censorship of this vital information by not just the corporatized media but as well with the cooperation of the Republican establishment’s corrupted neocons in cooperation with the  Democratic establishment’s corrupted neolib politicians.

This ignorance will continue to damage our prospects to demand that the signatory countries of the NPT treaty expeditiously follow through with the  legal implementation of article VI of the NPT Treaty which calls for downsizing to the point of extinction of ALL nuclear weapons, globally.

This vital clause of this NPT treaty has been violated for decades now.

The Non Proliferation treaty was signed by the U.S., USSR, France, Britain, and China.  In 1969 as a result of a secret agreement between disgraced President Nixon, and Israel PM Golda Meier, Israel developed with U.S. cooperation an arsenal of nuclear weapons which to this day  it ludicrously does not admit it has, and furthermore it has documentably proliferated the nuclear energy weaponization technology to, of all places, the white supremacist, racist, Apartheid regime of South Africa during the mid 80’s, as Jewish author Sasha Polakow-Suransky described in detail in his book titled “The Unspoken Alliance : Israel’s Secret Relationship with Apartheid South Africa.

Paul Pillar, who had a 28-year career in the U.S. intelligence community, told this writer during a Q & A at the National Press Club (which was covered by C-Span) and which this Argentum Post published, that the CIA was aware that a nuclear bomb was detonated off the coast of South Africa in the mid 80’s when Israel was cooperatively engaged in this project with Apartheid South Africa.

Again, the same cabal which has the mainstream media self-censor historical reality, is responsible for the ignorance by the American people of this reality.

Likewise, the U.S. public is not aware that in the mid 80’s a nuclear bomb project whistleblower, namely Mordechai Vanunu,  resigned from his work at the Israeli Dimona plant in the Negev desert, resigned his Israeli citizenship, and emigrated to Australia, only to be then lured back to Britain where he was asked to give a presentation by the London Financial Times wherein he alerted the world of the danger of Israel’s secret nuclear weapons program.

Subsequently Mordechai Vanunu  was lured to Italy by an American/Israeli woman to a hotel in Italy, where he was drugged and abducted and shipped to Israel where he was placed in solitary confinement for 11 years, until the Israeli Supreme Court ruled this punishment illegal, something which still has not resulted in his complete release.

This woeful ignorance of historical reality,  further results in the preposterous notion that the U.S. does not need to apologize to the Japanese people for committing the barbaric act of bombarding twice Japan with nuclear weapons, the only nation to ever have used nuclear weapons on an unarmed innocent civilian population.

In order to comply with Article VI of the NPT treaty, it is an imperative that “we the people” in conjunction with the peoples of the whole planet, and most particularly in conjunction with the peoples of India, Pakistan, North Korea,  and Israel-in-Palestine, organize from the bottom up, to demand the expeditious initiation of a nuclear weapons elimination program.

This is a win-win issue for all rationalist humanist people of the world and transcends any idea-political orientation, but demands a firm adhesion to discipline, ethics, peaceful and intelligent negotiations, and the total absence of hegemonist agendas on part of any nation involved.

The idea that the U.S. should now embark and a $1 trillion-dollar nuclear weapons so-called “modernization” program which will include downsizing (in dimensions)  said weapons is utterly irrational, a threat to our national security,  and a threat to the survival of the planet.

The urgency of this matter can averted by a check of the “Doomsday Clock” as reported by the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists last Annual Report of 2015 shows that it stands at 3 minutes before Midnight !
