Alan Nairn Foresees The End of the Guatemalan Criminal/Genocidal Oligarchy In Ways Which Implicate Reagan and Israel

Alan Nairn is a stunningly sharp, award-winning, professional journalist who has reported on, inter alia, the genocidal killing of Ixil autochthonous inhabitants of Guatemala by the repressive oligarchic dictatorship of Rios Montt, who – incredibly – was supported in said genocidal killings by Ronald Reagan who had the collaboration of the Israeli government which send weaponry and helicopters to Guatemala in a genocidal extermination of some 80,000 Guatemalan natives in the mid 1980’s.
Ariel Sharon was the PM of Israel at the time of Israel’s lucrative involvement in this crime against the humanity of another autochthonous people besides the Palestinians.
Enormous but insufficient progress has been made in Guatemala since in the last 30 years but the General “Tito”, i.e. Otto Perez Molina, the commander of the genocidal killing managed to become the President of Guatemala through “elections” which were rigged by a fascist oligarchic elite.
In a truth and reconciliation type tribunal proceeding former General Rios Montt was sentenced to life in prison for the genocide, but the oligarchic power structure in conjunction with its corrupted military sector managed to annul the sentence of the criminal general.
Legendary Rigoberta Menchu, a Guatemalan nativist of uncanny intelligence, courage, and compassion took on the oligarchy and exposed its crimes internationally demanding and end to the Reagan supported tyranny. Menchu as a result of her relentless efforts at home and abroad, received the Nobel Peace Prize.
Fast forward to 2015, the Supreme Court of Guatemala just ruled that President Molina is impeachable for crimes against humanity and embezzlement of $ 100 million dollars from the Guatemalan treasury.
Yesterday, August 27. 2015, a general strike was declared throughout Guatemala.
If events continue to unfold peacefully as they have thus far, according to journalist Alan Nairn, the people of Guatemala will finally have their day in court and this event will then open a Pandora’s box which will implicate the Reagan administration sordid involvement in this horrific dark era of Guatemala. It will also reveal the involvement of Israel in the military oppression of vast segments of the indigenous population of Guatemala.
This event will also further document the systematic assassination of labor leaders in Guatemala during decades.
With this introduction this writer now provides its readers with a remarkable segment of the Democracy Now interview by its producer, Amy Goodman, of Alan Nairn, a noble, intrepid and passionately dedicated to justice and peace processes unique investigative journalist .
Undoubtedly while humanity is witnessing extreme violence and turmoil almost everywhere, there is also the extremely welcomed evolution of a globalization of indignation, particularly by young people, against the industrial strength sins of the past which are damaging their rightful hopes for a prosperous, harmonious, and peaceful present and future.
The advent of internet technology coupled to the activism of bloggers is finally forcing the corporatized media to face a healthy competition in ways which will unavoidably force it to serve the American public the way it deserves to and has a right to, namely by providing it with a much more detailed, objective, properly historically contextualized, and balanced information as compared to its current use of sound bytes and infotainment devices to capture attention of the public in ways that often distract, disinform and/or collaborate with firmly entrenched special corporate and/ or right-wing extremist interest groups, to wit but not exclusively, such pernicious lobbies as AIPAC and the NRA.
Did not know anything about this particular history. El Salvador, yes. We trained the killing
squads there (still in business in Ga. under another name)
Thanks for the news, Fred. As usual, extremely well documented!
