As the prestigious Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem is torched by arsonists, the progressive Israeli newspaper Haaretz reports that scholars such as  author Ronit Matalon declare that Israel is now an Apartheid state.

The Netanyahu regime is now targeting Jewish peace activists as it has never before, as a sign of its inchoate decay.

Just between Netanyahu’s offensive incursion by collusion with Republican extremist into our Congress in an extremely rude and disrespectful offense to President Obama, and Netanyahu’s  attempt to force Brazil to accept as an ambassador to Brazil a man who is an active proponent of the international law violating occupation of Palestine and an active opponent of a negotiated settlement with Palestinians , namely Dani Dayan, it has become clear that Israel’s misleadership is taking Israel, down a one-way path in the wrong direction which can have catastrophic consequences for all genuinely concerned in avoiding it.

Haaretz is a newspaper which covers the reality of Israel superbly by its principled and courageous incisive and scholarly journalists and it does so  in ways not even The New York Times and much less The Washington Post come close to.

This writer had the fortune to meet with and chat with one of Haaretz’s most internationally known and highly respected journalists, namely Gideon Levy.

The forum of this encounter was at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C. where on March 7, 2014 hundreds of scholars, intelligence community analysts, foreign service officers, former ambassadors, and other people of all backgrounds gathered for a one day conference titled the “National Summit to Reassess the U.S. “Special Relationship” with Israel.”

Said “Special Relationship” has for a long time become a major liability for the U.S. best interests as it is the result of the undue influence of special interests on corrupted and/or utterly ignorant politicians, mostly from the “neocon” Republican sector but as well on a lower quantitative scale from the “neoliberal” Democrat sector which has allowed this aberrational state of misinformation to exist for decades.

Bottom line is, we have arrived at a crossroads which inexorably was approaching at an increasing rate of speed which has been characterized by the exposure of the egregiously dishonesty and repression  of the Zionist narrative and its power structure coupled to its horrifically violently oppressive practices against the most fundamental human, civil, and legal rights of the autochonous people of Palestine, and  hence the demise of its sustainability has now set in ways which urgently call for the U.N., the E.U., the U.S. and other major players of the international community as well as the International Criminal Court, to intervene to end this status quo which is adding fuel to the fires raging in the Middle East.
