This is a sequel to the previous ARGENTUM POST article published on February 22, 2019 and titled ” The Venezuelan Crisis is Not Black and White : Scholars, Diplomacy and International Agencies Such as the UN Need To Be Involved but No Interventionism is Called For ”
Medea Benjamin is an indefatigable defender of human rights by the practice of justice and peace.
She is one of the founders of the organization Code Pink.
She has this writer’s profound admiration and respect for her highly inspiring principles, courage, intellect, and humanistic compassion.
She is awesomely, calm, cool, and collected and in the infra video she takes over the microphone as a conference by Guaido representatives in Washington, DC was about to try to defend the indefensible reality that (a) President Nicolas Maduro was re-elected democratically while the opposition decided to boycott the vote, and (b) Venezuela is a sovereign nation and hence Mr. Guaido cannot simply violate international law and UN rules and expect that with Trump’s outrageous, hypocritical, ignorant and aggressive military threats, economic and financial sabotage and blockade, all of which violate that international law and UN rules, both, Trump and Guaido and their followers can get away without being held accountable.
A reading of the United Nations “Chapter VII: Action With Respect to Threats to the Peace, Breaches of the Peace, and Acts of Aggression ” suffices to make clear that both, Trump and the Guaido followers they are guilty of serious, reprehensible, legal violations.
See infra the video clip of a peaceful and articulate announcement by Medea Benjamin at the onset of the said conference.
