Had Scott Ritter been listened to, and had the Constitutionally mandated War Powers Act been enforced, the dishonest, corrupt and illegal neocon/neolib Cheney/Bush junta war on Iraq would have never occurred and the consequent Middle East catastrophic infra-structure destruction , the wasteful loss of American and Arab mostly innocent lives, as well as the waste of taxpayer’s funds would have never occurred.

Scott Ritter was a highly principled and courageous US Marine and a former highly experienced United Nations weapons inspector in Iraq from 1991 to 1998. He was a chief inspector in 14 of the more than 30 inspections in which he participated.

According to the site grassrootspeace.org on November 17, 2005, in Amherst, NJ, Scott Ritter declared the following:

“People were trapped by their own ignorance and the fear that is induced by ignorance so that they could not stand up and speak truth to power because, frankly speaking, most people didn’t know what the truth was. We were told that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, massive stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction, and, to be honest, most Americans didn’t have a clue what a weapon of mass destruction was. They didn’t know what chemical weapons were, biological weapons were, long-range ballistic missiles. They might have a vague understanding of what a nuclear weapon is, but not really, not what it takes to build a nuclear weapon. They were so ignorant about nuclear weapons that they bought into the argument that Iraq, a nation that is sitting on many tons of yellow-cake uranium ore, would have to go to an African country to buy new stockpiles. They were so ignorant about nuclear weapons that they bought at face value Dick Cheney’s proclamation that Iraq was acquiring aluminum tubes to build a new family of centrifuges to enrich uranium when everybody who deals with the enrichment of uranium using the centrifuge method knows that aluminum tubes will never work. We don’t build them with aluminum tubes. It doesn’t happen. But, no, the American people, informed as always about the complexities of these very difficult issues, said ‘my gosh, the President has said yellow cake, and Dick Cheney has said aluminum tubes, and there must be a nuclear threat because Condoleezza Rice has told us ‘we don’t want to wait for the smoking gun to become a mushroom cloud.’ So like the compliant little sheep that we are, we *bah, bah* get led down the path towards a war that has been a disaster, an unmitigated disaster, a war based on a lie, a war based on not just the ignorance of the American public but the moral indifference of those whom we elect to higher office to represent us in our name, namely the Congress of the United States of America.”

This interview primarily focuses on the highly inflammatory and dishonest wrongfulness of the Trump/Mike Pomeo/John Bolton/ Netanyahu economic sanctions and war threats being applied against Iran.

Since 1945, the UN Charter bans both, the threat and the use of force in international conflicts. Trump could not care less and fired off 100 missiles into Syria on April 14, 2018, after claiming (arguably) that the Syrian government uses chemical weapons on its people.

The consequences of a war against Iran, and most particularly a war on fraudulent grounds, on Iran, would be much worse than the previous wars on Iraq, Afghanistan, Syria, and Libia.

Article 4 of the NPT (Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty) allows for the use of uranium refinement for peaceful purposes.

Israel, BTW, ignores this treaty and refuses to sign it, and therefore in the mid-80’s it has proceeded to clandestinely proliferate its nuclear secrets and assisted in the installation of a weaponization program in, of all nations, the odious Apartheid white supremacist colonialist regime of South Africa.

Outrageously, Donald Trump allowed pressure by Israel’s Benjamin Netanyahu (who has various criminal investigations pending his possible indictment in Israel), alongside the murderous dishonest brutal dictator of Saudi Arabia, Bin Salman, and his “friend” Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner, to persuade him not only to renege on the JCPOA, but demand, along with his ditto head Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, that the EU do the same if it wants to avoid sanctions by the U.S.

As it turned out, the EU spectacularly rejected this illegal insolence and has established a trading system with Iran which will protect its trade with Iran.

Pompeo ignorantly and/or malevolently has falsely declared Iran is the world’s greatest sponsor of terrorism (while in reality, it has been a victim of MEK terrorism and Israeli Mossad targeted assassinations of its scientists, inter alia.)

Beyond that, Iran has been a bulwark in its contribution to the containment and defeat of ISIS and in the containment of Al Qaeda in Yemen which has now for 4 years been destroyed by aerial bombardments by Saudi Arabia, the de facto greatest sponsor of terrorism, point in case being, inter alia, the barbaric attack on the U.S. in 9/11.

According to the infra video pronouncements by Scott Ritter, Mike Pompeo use made up U.S. intelligence claims, such as details of a past Iranian nuclear weapons program which did never existed, to buttress his and Trumps et al. determination to further impose sanctions on Iran, to continue the highly provocative threats, and calumniations on Iran to sell to the American people the need for a regime change intervention in Iran.

This repulsive strategy of lying to the American people is like a page out of the Cheney sordid tactic of categorically blaming the 9/11 attacks on Iraq and furthermore suggesting that Iraq was supporting Al Qaeda at a time when Iraq was about to, or already being, attacked by Al Qaeda cells which infiltrated it after the U.S. 2003 invasion destroyed the military resources of Iraq to defend itself
